Exhibition of NEW WORK by Selwyn Holmes - 29 May to 25 June 2010.
Wood wall panels inspired by North American Native Art, made using veneer and plywood creating unusual colour and pattern combinations.

30th Anniversary celebrations – August 1979 to 2009.
I hope you were able to come and visit us during August 2009, our birthday month, when we had events, promotions and happenings going on at Dansel Gallery.
- We had an exhibition of Dansel's history showing pictures of the changing interior of the gallery, past and present, press and magazine articles, makers who have supported us over the years and anecdotes from customers, pictures of some of the special pieces we have had like the full-size baby elephant and six foot high carved jeans curtain, etc.
- An exhibition of work was especially commissioned by the gallery, by makers exhibiting here who designed something special for the anniversary, some who have been with us for over 20 years, with a history of their involvement with us.
- There were also some free gifts, a prize draw for 3 special one-off pieces and various other events.
New
Work
There is a good selection of furniture in the gallery by several makers at
present as well as many mirrors. Carved birds, decoys and animals remain very
collectable. Interesting work by Mark Sanger including wall plaques, stunning vessels and Peter Vernon's exquisite stingrays. There are several new makers adding to the 200 existing ones producing unusual pieces in wood.

Natural
edged chopping boards are regularly made by Robert Parker in
spalted beech and elm are very popular due to
their individual shapes and markings. These
go nicely with the laminated wooden cheese knives.
The
rocking horse made in laminated plywood
is still available for the
children to play on while their parents
can relax looking around the gallery. The play table with a selection of jigsaws remains a favourite corner for the little ones.
The
Jurassic Coast in West Dorset continues to inspire new artistic
items in wood. Come and see the ammonite puzzles and wood shells.
The
Woodland Trust
The Woodland Trust remains our main charity. We have collecting boxes and
membership leaflets and many makers actively plant trees to replace the wood
they use.
