Monkey Puzzle
Monkey puzzle is the national tree of Chile and is sometimes referred to as Chilean pine. It is a member of the Araucaria genus. It is considered endangered in Chile within it’s natural habitat, however in Europe it is an ornamental tree. Sometimes the timber is afflicted with blue/grey fungal staining which is considered decorative, particularly when the wood features contrasting reddish knots.
