London Plane/Lacewood
Plane trees originate in England and are often planted in towns and cities due to their ability to adapt to urban surroundings and their resistance to pollution. Lacewood is a common name for the wood produced from this tree, named after its iconic flecking of red, brown and grey. The lace pattern is more prominent when the wood is quatersawn. The overall feel tends to be quite textured due to the varying densities in the wood tissues. This hardwood is very good for making fine furniture and turned objects.
