Spalted Beech

Image (6).jpeg

Spalting occurs naturally in wood after it

has been cut down. Different fungi invade the dead wood with the purpose of eventually decomposing the tree. The fungus creates wonderfully unexpected random patterns through the wood. This is particularly noticeable and striking in Beech. Some other woods can be equally attractive and have different forms of markings and colours running through them.
